The Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul, chaired a security meeting in the West Region on April 8, 2025, where he commended administrative and security authorities for maintaining a stable security atmosphere. The minister was impressed with the collaboration from the active forces of the region that led to the tracking and impounding of some 30 tonnes of Indian hemp and more than 20 tonnes of cocaine. He expressed the Head of State’s congratulations to the security officials, with the satisfaction that the security situation of the region is under control. Talking about the regional and presidential elections in 2025, the minister said it requires profound synergy between the administrative authorities, the forces of law and order and the population, calling on Governor Awa Fonka Augustine to lead administrative authorities to accompany ELECAM for the rule of law to prevail. They have to fight against hate speech, drug consumption,fake drugs, fake news, fake goods, political manipulation and all threats to peace, adding that they should work for peace to reign before, during and after the elections.The MINAT Boss emphasised that political actors have the right to political freedom, but those who defy state authority would be brought to book; thus, he called on the Governor to continue with efficient sensitisation and set up mechanisms to track crime. On terrorists who encroach the West Region from the Northwest through the Bamboutos and Noun Divisions, the MINAT Boss said strong mechanisms would be established to avert this.He called on security stakeholders to continue preserving the integrity of the nation for a Great Cameroon. The security meeting continued in camera, with an evaluation of the political, economic, developmental, security and social climate of the West Region. Present were the eight Senior Divisional Officers from the 8 Divisions, Divisional Officers from the Mifi, the Attorney General and other security forces and stakeholders.
